Shawn has carpentry in his blood as he is the third generation of his family in the trade. His grandfather, Elijah Slate, started as a carpenter after returning home from WW2 and built hundreds of homes and businesses in Pampa and the surrounding area. He also worked as a commercial building superintendent most notable on the Morley Theater in Borger. Shawn's father, Ray, apprenticed with Elijah before opening his own contracting buisness, Deaver Construction, in Canadian which he later moved to Pampa. One of his projects in Canadian was the remodeling of the historic Moody Building.
Shawn cannot remember a time when his school holidays and weekends were not spent helping on one of his dad's projects. He obtained his hardship driving license at the ago of 13 so he could drive to the jobsite after school. Shawn joined his dad full time after college and they worked together until Ray's retirement from construction. Shawn took over the business establishing it as Shawn Deaver Construction in 2003. Shawn is forever grateful to his father and grandfather for giving him the gift of a trade and is proud to continue the family tradition of quality craftmanship.
